HOW TO TRAIN WITH HEART RATE ZONES
The company has also added LEDs to the top of the device so you can see when it plugs in - one of the chest straps bugbears is the secret of what they do before plugging in.
But it is Tickr X that gets the largest range of new features.
As well as heart rate, it is now able to track cadence, vertical oscillation and ground contact time in running activities. This is a set of top-level Garmins features with a dynamic module working, so it's great that more people will be able to access this information.
New Wahoo Tickr X heart rate monitor puts focus on neglected form
Wahoo has introduced a new metric - ride smoothness - that looks at all of these metrics and combines them into one estimate of your running form.
Tickr / TickrX can store 50 hours of training onboard the sensor itself, so you don't need to take your phone with you to get the data. You will be able to see the data in the Wahoo Fitness app.
What's more, it will last 500 hours before you need to replace the battery.
“We've updated Tickr and Tickr X to provide users with first-class functionality in a design that's easy to use and very comfortable to wear,” said Wahoo Product Manager Cathy Dupre.
“TICKR and TICKR X redefine what you expect from a heart rate monitor, offering unmatched power, comfort and convenience, whether for a quick lunch or a marathon.”
