Overview

• Lost Ark is an isometric ARPG, and unlike other games, some classes are gender-locked. Warriors must be male, mages must be female. Each class has a number of specialized sub-classes that you must choose as soon as you choose a junior class.

  Combat feels pretty good. You start with a bunch of abilities that you can chain together to unleash some powerful combos, which are necessary for dungeons when enemies outnumber you 20 to 1. It's satisfying to hit a bunch of trolls gathered together with a devastating sword blow, knocking them all down in one blow. It was just as fun to spin around and smash enemies close enough to get close to my whirlwind of death.

  You can get a surprising amount of items and some Lost Ark Gold on your trip. In addition to normal loot like armor, weapons, and potions, you can also pick up some story items that are useless other than right-clicking them to add them to your journal.

  There's an interesting relationship system where you can increase the number of NPCs who like you by giving them gifts or simply showing affection to them. Players were initially excited about the prospect of romantic relationships with NPCs, but it seemed that rapport was another way to maximize loot.
