Overview
- I've played quite a bit at OSRS which I even topped up my account. But I don't like OSRS's community to death. Letting the fans decide which direction the game should take was good decision at first but the problems with the game long-term that made me quit were that RuneScape Gold as the game became more well-known, it attracted players who didn't agree with the original game's design and wanted to move the game in a different direction. The problem compounded when devs quit and the game is no longer in its original direction. But new developers do not have a clear direction for the game , so updates are essentially floating around and do not serve much purpose all the time, simply filler content for players to play.
The different aspects of the community are always in conflict with each and the other due to the progressive nature of the game implies that players always have their own best interests in mind regardless of games' balance and want to see the game's direction to be shifted toward them. It makes the communities for the game a very difficult one to be a part of and frankly, even the creators of the game are pretty awful. In terms of mechanics , the game is relatively simple, however it's full of interconnected systems which can be difficult to comprehend And there's been many updates where the devs have a unique idea but they aren't aware of the negative impacts it has on the game. because the majority of players does not know that a great many bad updates get pushed through and a ton of good updates fail for seemingly no reason.
I think MMOs have a lot of problems to solve in relation to conflicts of interest within the player base as well as making sure that everyone is happy. OSRS feels pretty doomed to me with regard to innovation as the developers lack enough tools to fix the game's mechanics, limits to engine performance, the anti-cheat system and the polling system being extremely messed up in the game's direction because it leads to an upslope of users seeking updates for a short term benefit despite the long-term damage it could cause for the game.
The number of accounts that have been disabled or stolen appears to be significantly more than previous games for some reason. Support doesn't work as well in such cases. It's common that people with accounts that are locked or stolen attempt to get help by sharing their issue openly in Twitter in Reddit and hoping that they receive enough retweets or upvotes for Jagex to pay attention. And all this while paying 11 USD every month.
This is due to the fact that Runescape historically had the largest illegal market in any MMO Maybe even now it is still active, however I'm not so sure. The economic importance results in many hacking attempts because the reward for doing it is so great and even they flood support with phishing attempts. I've been playing for 3 years and legitimate security issues for my account are fairly rare. You must be aware of buy rs gp the security of your account as there are more criminals trying to harm you.
