Diablo 4 patch 3.1.1 is a quiet update on paper, but it changes the feel of seasonal endgame farming. The biggest improvement is not a flashy damage buff. It is the way effort now leads to something you can actually use. Players pushing high Torment can earn at least one Superior Lair Key from qualifying Deathtoll Chambers, making Diablo 4 Items farming less dependent on a miserable streak of bad luck. Mythic drops were also repaired for several Unique sources, including Lair Bosses, while natural Mythics have a better chance to become Iconic. That gives the whole loop more weight.
Before this patch, Deathtoll Chambers could feel like a coin toss. You might clear one after another and still walk away without the key needed for the next step. The new reward floor changes that. It does not promise a Mythic, and it does not make every boss cache generous. It simply makes chamber clears matter.
You can reach these chambers through Realmwalker events or Nightmare Dungeons with the Rupture affix. The better option depends on your character. A fast dungeon route will often beat a more rewarding activity if that activity involves long travel, waiting, or failed objectives. Track chambers per hour, not just the reward shown on the activity screen. That number tells you much more.
The Corrupted Reaper can now drop up to two Pandemonium Fragments, with rewards tied to Torment level. Repeatable Glints of Hope reputation rewards also guarantee a fragment, and the Upgrade to Mythic recipe costs four instead of five. That is a 20% reduction, which becomes noticeable after several upgrades.
This creates two sensible ways to chase Mythics. You can keep farming bosses for natural drops, or you can build toward a guaranteed crafting attempt. Both paths now feed the same progression system. Still, do not rush into the highest Torment tier just because it offers better theoretical rewards. If your clear times collapse, a lower qualifying tier may produce more keys and fragments over a full evening.
The Aspect of Anger Management is worth mentioning, but it was not changed in patch 3.1.1. Its interaction with Battle-Mad was fixed in patch 3.1.0 on June 30. The correction stopped Anger Management from incorrectly overriding Battle-Mad damage bonuses.
For Barbarians, the real test is sustained combat. Can the build keep Fury high while moving, defending, and handling awkward boss mechanics? A setup that looks brilliant against a stationary target may feel rough inside a Deathtoll Chamber. Watch your Fury, Berserking uptime, and damage during longer fights rather than trusting a short training-room test.
Start with the highest Torment level you can clear without hesitation. Run the fastest reliable route to Deathtoll Chambers, collect the guaranteed keys, and spend them when the Corrupted Reaper fight is comfortable. Keep progressing Glints of Hope reputation in the background, since every repeatable reward now helps with Mythic crafting. Save fragments for a specific upgrade instead of spending them simply because you have enough.
That is where patch 3.1.1 lands well. It does not remove randomness, but it reduces the empty stretches between meaningful attempts. A failed drop can still lead to fragments, and a completed chamber now has a dependable purpose. Once your route is stable, even buy diablo 4 runes can help fill the gaps while you work toward the Mythic that actually improves your build.
