There is evidence that mapping dates all the way back to hundreds of years BC, implying that it is a very old discipline. Scientists examine the evolution of cartography via the use of ancient drawings and published works on global geography, as well as through the presentation of cartographic goods as sources of knowledge and inspiration. The ancients' excursions to explore, trade, and evangelize... in China, India, Italy, Greece, and Spain... also made substantial contributions to indigenous geographic knowledge, laying the groundwork for its growth.
