How Often Should Kids Have Eye Exams?

  • I also had the same experience with my daughter a few months back last year. She never mentioned anything about her vision so before she started school we took her for a check-up. Surprisingly, she also required glasses as well! It is advisable to take the child for eye checkups, annually or at two-year intervals because their eyes are still growing. If you are still on the fence, it could be useful to talk with an ophthalmologist. Here Optometrists in Smithers, BC can advise on how often your son should go for an eye check-up. Isn’t it always ideal to detect problems at their nascent stage?

  • I've been wondering about how often kids should have eye exams. My son, who's 6, hasn't had one since he was a toddler, and I'm starting to think we might be overdue. A friend of mine told me her daughter had an eye exam at 4, and they found out she needed glasses, even though she didn't show any signs of having vision problems. That made me think maybe I should get my son checked, just to be safe. But is once every few years enough at this age, or should it be more frequent?
