Sadia Iqbal replaces Fatima Sana in Pakistan

  • In a recent development, left-arm spinner Sadia Iqbal has been named as the replacement for Fatima Sana in Pakistan's 15-member squad for the upcoming 19th Asian Games in Hangzhou, China. This alteration was approved by the technical committee overseeing the Asian Games.

The change came about after right-arm fast bowler Fatima Sana sustained an injury during the second ODI against South Africa on September 11th and subsequently missed the third ODI on September 14th. Following an MRI scan and assessment by the PCB medical panel, it was determined that Fatima had a thigh injury that would prevent her from participating in the 19th Asian Games.

Pakistan's women's cricket team, aiming for a third consecutive gold medal in the Asian Games, will depart for China from Lahore via Doha. According to the ICC T20I rankings and tournament rules, Pakistan's women's team will enter the competition during the quarter-finals, scheduled for September 21-22. The semi-finals will take place on September 24th, with the final scheduled for September 25th, along with the match for the Bronze medal.

The squad for the Asian Games includes Nida Dar (captain), Aliya Riaz, Anoosha Nasir, Diana Baig, Muneeba Ali, Najiha Alvi, Nashra Sundhu, Nataliya Parvaiz, Omaima Sohail, Sadaf Shamas, Sadia Iqbal, Shawaal Zulfiqar, Sidra Amin, Syeda Aroob Shah, and Umm-e-Hani. The player support staff comprises Ayesha Ashhar (team manager), Mauhtashim Rashid (interim head coach), Saleem Jaffer (bowling coach), Taufiq Umar (batting coach), and Rifat Gill (physiotherapist).
