I can still remember when I first became a special education teacher back in the mid-1990s. A friend's father, who was a school principal at the time, told me to get out of special education because it wasn't going to last. Well, I've been in and out of special education for more than two decades now, and sometimes I don't know if I'm a regular education teacher or a special education teacher, or both.
