Before he was leading an unbeaten Gonzaga team to the No. 1 overall seed in the men's NCAA tournament, Jalen Suggs was a standout guard for Minnehaha High. A two-sport athlete, Jalen was also the 2019–20 Gatorade Minnesota Football Player of the Year after throwing for 2,210 yards and 25 touchdowns and leading his school to the Class AAAA state title game. Jalen continued his dominance as a senior, and led the Redhawks to the state basketball tournament before the COVID pandemic forced the cancellation of the season. Jalen was named to the SI All-American Second Team.
