North Texas’ Maximus Williamson earned a West meet record in the men’s 400-yard IM at the 2021 Speedo Winter Junior Championships - West.
Williamson dominated the race with a 3:42.22 as the 15-year-old came up a bit shy of Michael Phelps’ 15-16 national age group record of 3:42.08 set in 2002.
Lakeside’s Cooper Lucas placed second in 3:46.26 with Humberto Najera winding up third in 3:47.33.

Williamson, 15, won by two seconds with a 1:43.16. That fell a bit shy of Michael Andrew’s 15-16 national age group record of 1:42.77 set in 2015.
iNspire’s Nate Germonprez finished second with a 1:45.18, while CANY’s Kyle Brill snared third in 1:45.89.
