James Stuck was serving in Iraq in 2005 when he was struck by a roadside bomb, resulting in him losing his right leg. While recovering he discovered adaptive sports, leading him to USA Volleyball and the Rio Paralympics!

U.S. Women's Sitting National Team athletes found inspiration from the athletes who came before them and now hope to lead the next generation. National Girls and Women in Sports Day began in 1987 to honor USA Volleyball Olympian Flo Hyman for her athletic achievements and dedication to promoting equality for women’s sports. Hyman died of Marfan’s Syndrome in 1986.
