Katie Ledecky posted the fastest time of 2019 in the 800m free on the first day of competition at the TYR Pro Swim Series in Richmond. Ledecky swam a 8:14.24 in her first 800m free race of the year. Second place was Leah Smith who came in right behind Ledecky at 8:16.33, taking almost a second off of her personal best. Third place was Kristel Kobrich at 8:36.19.
