Payton Sorenson of Sun Devil Swimming notched the only sub-23 of the morning, winning the final heat in 22.73 ahead of Kent Olsen-Stavrakas form Colorado Stars and Evan Carlson of Sun Devils. Carlson touched out Irvine Nova’s Jesse Novak by .01 to take third in 23.29.

The men’s 800m freestyle event featured exciting racing across each of the nine sites, but ultimately it was El-Kamash's 7:52.19 performance in Indianapolis that earned the title. His performance shaved three and a half seconds from his previous personal best, which he set back in 2018.
