In the opening round of the 2019 Genesis Open, rain delayed play for most of the day, resulting in a restart Thursday, and keeping the entire field from finishing their opening 18 holes. Jordan Spieth and Sung Kang sit atop the leaderboard at 5-under through 12 and 14 holes respectively.

The Genesis Open is contested at Riviera Country Club near Los Angeles, California. Reigning TOUR championship winner Tiger Woods is playing at the event and doubles as the tournament host. In 2018, Bubba Watson claimed his third Genesis Open title and 10th TOUR win.
