Louisville’s Mallory Comerford broke 55 seconds in the women’s 100 free at the 2021 Toyota U.S. Open Championships.
Comerford led the way from start to finish with a winning effort of 54.74, while Arina Openysheva placed second in the event with a 55.23. Cammile Spink closed out the podium in a time of 55.44.
Regan Smith, now swimming at Stanford University after delaying her enrollment to focus on the Olympic year, dominated the women’s 100 back at the 2021 Toyota U.S. Open Championships.
Smith charted a top 10 time in the world with a sweltering 58.69. She came up just shy of the meet record of 58.63 set by Phoebe Bacon in 2019, but still managed to beat the field by more than three seconds.

Florida’s Katie Ledecky kept on rolling this week with another meet record, this time in the women’s 200 free at the 2021 Toyota U.S. Open Championships.
Ledecky threw down a blistering 1:55.47 to win the race by more than three seconds and smash her prelim meet record of 1:56.06 set this morning.
