Vaggelis Makrygiannis swept the backstroke events at the 2021 Toyota U.S. Open Championships with a victory in the men’s 200 back tonight.
Makrygiannis touched out Baylor Nelson, 2:00.48 to 2:00.85, after charging from fifth place at the 150-meter mark. Markygiannis closed out the field with a monster 29.97 on the way home.
Richie Stokes placed third overall with a time of 2:01.24.
Florida’s Trey Freeman cleared the field in the men’s 200 free by more than a second at the 2021 Toyota U.S. Open Championships.
Freeman, coming home in a swift 27.47, won the event in 1:47.90 to keep the ball rolling for the Gators this evening.
Hoe Yean Khiew punched the wall in second with a 1:49.00 with Oskar Lindholm completing the podium with a third-place effort of 1:50.63.
