Vaggelis Makrygiannis swept the backstroke events at the 2021 Toyota U.S. Open Championships with a victory in the men’s 200 back tonight. Makrygiannis touched out Baylor Nelson, 2:00.48 to 2:00.85, after charging from fifth place at the 150-meter mark. Markygiannis closed out the field with a monster 29.97 on the way home. Richie Stokes placed third overall with a time of 2:01.24.
